DOCOMOMO Tour – Japan

Within the 13th International DOCOMOMO Conference – Expansion and Conflict, that was held between 25 and 27 September 2014, in Seoul, Korea, Docomomo Japan organized a very meaningful DOCOMOMO tours through Japan, between 28 September and 1 October 2014. The itinerary was Matsuyama – Uchiko – Hizuchi – Takamatsu – Sakaide – Kurashiki – Ohyamazaki – Kansai and the places visited were the following: . 13th International DOCOMOMO Conference – Round Table

A very inspiring round table, conducted by Hubert-Jan Henket and Joung Soung Kimm, was held in the 13th International DOCOMOMO Conference, Seoul, Korea, last 27 September 2014. The aim was to getter new chapters with Asian Working Parties, in order to discuss sustainability as a keyword for DOCOMOMO´s future. The participants were Angola (Filomena Carvalho), Camboja (Khun-Neay Khuon), Hong Kong (Koon Wee), Iran (Hadi Naderi), Japan (Yoshiyuki Yamana), Korea (Tae Woo and Eui-Sung Yi), Kuwait (Zahra Ali Baba), Macao (Rui Leão), Taiwan (Remi Wang) and Thailand (Waeovichian Abhichartvorapan). Angola, Kuwait, Taiwan and Thailand are new DOCOMOMO Working Parties, approved in the last Council Meeting, 26 September 2014….

Eindhoven-Seoul Statement 2014

Hubert-Jan Henket, honorary President of DOCOMOMO International, and Ana Tostões, Chair of DOCOMOMO International, proposed the changing of the Eindhoven Statement (1990), focused on the theme of reuse and sustainability, in order to address DOCOMOMO future challenges, namely to formulate new ideas for the future of the built environment based on past experiences of the Modern Movement. Marieke Kuipers honoured with the DOCOMOMO International Achievement Award 2014

DOCOMOMO International awarded Marieke Kuipers with the DOCOMOMO International Achievement Award 2014, in recognition for her 20 years of dedication and commitment to DOCOMOMO ISC Registers, as secretary and chair, for being a reviewer of the Bauhaus UNESCO World Heritage nomination and for driving forces behind the successful nomination of the Van Nellefabriek on the UNESCO World Heritage List. 13th DOCOMOMO Council Meeting

The 13th DOCOMOMO Council Meeting was held last 26th September 2014, in Seoul, Korea. MAIN RESULTS . Angola, Israel, Kuwait, Taiwan and Thailand were approved as new DOCOMOMO Working Parties. . DOCOMOMO Egypt, DOCOMOMO Hong Kong and DOCOMOMO Macao became active Working Parties, losing their provisional status. . Zara Ferreira was elected as General Secretary of DOCOMOMO International. DOCOMOMO International assigned to Ivan Blasi, who drop his position, a vote of recognition for his work and commitment with DOCOMOMO in the last 4 years. . The 14th International Docomomo Conference (2016) will be held in Lisbon, under the theme of “Adaptative ReUse”. . New Working Parties

At the 13th DOCOMOMO Council Meeting that took place last 26 September 2014, in Seoul, Angola, Israel, Kuwait, Taiwan and Thailand were approved as new DOCOMOMO Working Parties. DOCOMOMO Egypt, DOCOMOMO Hong Kong and DOCOMOMO Macao became active Working Parties, losing their provisional status. Congratulations!

Publications. Re-birth

In order to have more coordination between the ISC’s and other DOCOMOMO bodies regarding publications, the Advisory Board unanimously agreed, on 24 September 2014, on the re-creation of the DOCOMOMO International Specialist Committee on Publications, integrating all the ISC chairs and the DOCOMOMO International Chair. The proposal was unanimously accepted at the 13th DOCOMOMO Council Meeting that took place in Seoul, Korea, 26 September 2014.
