Last 16 May was inaugurated at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, the exhibition “Siza”, which will be patent there at the Main Gallery and Temporary Exhibition Gallery from 17 May to 26 August 2024. Bartolomeu Costa Cabral (1929-2024)

It is with deep sadness that Docomomo Portugal communicates that the Portuguese architect Bartolomeu Costa Cabral passed away last 20th April 2024. Docomomo Portugal wishes to convey the sincerest condolences at the passing of the renowned architect and urban designer, to his family and friends. Born in 1929 in Lisbon, Bartolomeu Costa Cabral was regarded as one of today’s leading architects in Portugal, where he lived and worked. He obtained his architectural degree from the Lisbon School of Fine Arts (ESBAL) in 1957. We are happy to announce that in accordance with the discussed on the last Docomomo International council meeting, on 8 September 2022, during the 17th International Docomomo Conference, Valencia, Docomomo Portugal has been established in 2023. Docomomo Portugal is the Portuguese working party of Docomomo International. It aims to foster the documentation, conservation and reuse of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the Modern Movement in Portugal according to Docomomo International’s mission.
