Porto, Fundação Marques da Silva, 12 February 2025
Docomomo Portugal is pleased to share that on next Wednesday, 12 February at 18H30 is being organized by Fundação Marques da Silva, in partnership with U.Porto Press, the book launch of Argumentos 2: em convergência written by Alexandre Alves Costa.
With Argumentos 2: em convergência, Alexandre Alves Costa completes the diptych where he set out to explore nearly five decades of his written production on various topics, always from the perspective of a man whose sole aim was to be an architect. In this second volume, he gathers more recent and some unpublished texts that continue to exist on the margins of essay writing, even though the autobiographical tone underpins them. In these, he shares memories, convictions, friendships, and commitments, but now reveals a greater proximity to critical analysis and the disciplinary exercise of architecture. He intentionally makes space for “an experience of communicating unbuilt projects”. The book integrates as well some testimonies by Maria Manuel Oliveira, Camilo Cortesão, Fernando Távora, Eduardo Souto de Moura.
At the book launch, the book will be presented by José Manuel Pureza, Professor of International Relations, researcher, author, and politician, and Pedro Levi Bismarck, architect, researcher, critic, and essayist, and counts with the presence and participation of the author, Alexandre Alves Costa.
The entrance is free, subject to space capacity.
