The First Ibero-american Congress on Urban History (Primer Congreso Iberoamericano de Historia Urbana), was held last 23rd-25th November, in Santiago, Chile, under the theme Cities in time: infraestructures, territories, heritage (Ciudades en el tiempo: Infraestructuras, Territorios, Património). Seminar: Seminario Internacional la Arquitectura de la Gran Ciudad

The II International Seminar La Arquitectura de la Gran Ciudad, was held last 21st – 22nd November, in Santiago,  Chile, under the theme La Arquitectura de La Gran Ciudad (The Architecture of the Big City). IX DOCOMOMO Ibérico Congress

The IX docomomo Ibérico Congress, organized by Fundación docomomo Ibérico, in collaboration with Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos Vasco-Navarro, Delegación en Guipúzcoa del COAVN, Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura – UPV-EHU, Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Navarra and Instituto de Patrimonio Cultural de España, was held last 16th-18th October. Conference: 5th International Scientific Conference “Modernism in Europe – Modernism in Gdynia”

The 5th International Conference Modernism in Europe – Modernism in Gdynia, organized by the City of Gdynia, was held last 20th-22nd October. The conference was an opportunity to review the current state of research on modernist architecture developed in 20th century as well as to discuss issues connected with preservation and conservation of the modernist architecture, including that of the inter-war period.” The Chair of docomomo International, Professor Ana Tostões, took part of this Conference, with the communication “Modernity, between domesticity and monumentality”, included in the subject “Preservation and conservation of modernist architecture – the present situation and outlooks for the future”. Exhibition: Berenice Abbott – Photographs

Berenice Abbott (1898-1991) is one of the most important photographers of the 20th century. She spent six decades taking pictures. The Martin-Gropius-Bau is now dedicating an exhibition featuring about 80 pictures to her. Her famous and iconic pictures from the Changing New York series, early portraits and her pioneering work as a scientific photographer will be shown. Curator: Anne Morin More details: website
