Docomomo Switzerland and the TSAM Laboratory of EPFL are inviting for the Docomomo Switzerland / TSAM Online Conference Series 2021, under the theme “Projet, Histoire, Construction: regards croisés sur le patrimoine récent” [Project, History, Construction: Views on recent heritage], happening online via Zoom from March to June 2021 at 6 pm (GMT+1).
“For their fifth lecture series, Docomomo Switzerland and the TSAM Laboratory of the EPFL intend to present the multiple facets of modern and contemporary production, by combining different perspectives on the history of 20th-century architecture and its restoration. In this way, Serge Binotto, who formerly worked with Jean Prouvé, will retrace his career and the teachings of the “builder of Nancy”, embodied with genius in his house at Mirepoix. The Slovenian architect Maruša Zorec will re-examine some emblematic restoration projects, starting from the home of Jože Plečnik, a richly significant place that requires to be revealed, while the Zuric-based office of Elisabeth and Martin Boesch will examine the notion of Weiterbauen, magnificently expressed in their recent work on the Kurtheater Baden. finally, Martina Voser’s gaze will rest on ladscape as palimpsest, at the heart of the output of her MAVO agency based in Zurich.
The last two lectures of the 2021 cycle are devoted to an issue that is both crucial and controversial, the future of the major sports facilities that left their mark on the 20th-century city. Whether it is the Pier Luigi Nervi’s stadiums, the Olympic Park in Montreal, or the Pontaise Sports Park in Lausanne, there is still much to be said about these structures…”
