Within the 14th International Docomomo Conference, the International Docomomo Workshop – “The Adaptive Reuse of Lisbon riverside area: the MMC case study” took place in Lisbon, at Instituto Superior Técnico, from 1 to 5 September 2016. The workshop brought together 30 renowned architects and 90 students from different universities worldwide to discuss the future of the Manutenção Militar Complex (MMC). Querubim Lapa (1925 – 2016)

docomomo International wishes to convey the most sincere condolences at the passing of the great artist Querubim Lapa, to his family and friends. Querubim Lapa was born in Portimão, in 1925. Having graduated in Sculpture (1947 – 1953) and Painting (1978), in ESBAL, Lisbon, he was an author of a multiple work – painting, drawing, sculpture, tile, engraving – but it was in the ceramics applied to architecture that he was distinguished himself.
