European Conference on Architectural Policies, “From Bauhaus to New House – Post-Covid Landscapes”

Docomomo International is pleased to share the European Conference on Architectural Policies (ECAP), From Bauhaus to New House – Post-Covid Landscapes, an initiative of the Order of Architects, integrated in the official program of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will be held on 8 and 9 June 2021, at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Portugal. The Conference counts with the participation of  Professor Ana Tostões, Chair of Docomomo International, on the 9th of June at the Closing Session of the Conference.

Within the scope of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the host country usually holds a discussion forum whose main mission is to analyze, discuss and present proposals for architectural policies at a European level.

ECAP 2021 will be an opportunity to respond to the challenge launched by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in the sense of building a New European Bauhaus, proposing a dialogue on the current challenges of a post-pandemic future, crossing architecture, art, city ​​and politics. A debate on new ways of living under the premise of “sustainability”, calling on several generations of architects, artists, agents of culture, academics of various disciplines, to contribute to the debate of our time.

The conference is structured in the form of testimonials, keynotes and four round tables:

B | Transformations of the city in the post-pandemic
C | Architecture, art, and sustainability
D | Architectural policies and the New European Bauhaus

This conference aims to establish bridges between science and art, economics and culture, society and architecture, and understands interdisciplinary and collaborative processes as central to our time, bringing together contributions from various European agents and geographies and the global world.

On the 8th and 9th of June, the conference will be streamed live from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
