Maija Kairamo honoured with the Docomomo Award 2016

Docomomo International awarded Maija Kairamo with the Docomomo Award 2016, for decades of commitment, hard work and intelligence in the defence and affirmation of Docomomo.

The Award was given by Ana Tostões, Chair of Docomomo International, and by Katriina Pirnes, Attaché of Culture and Communication of the Finnish Embassy in Portugal, at the closing ceremony of the 14th International Docomomo Conference, on the 9th September, at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon.

Maija Kaarina Kairamo (1935), architect SAFA, Docomomo:
1998 – Secretary General of the Finnish Committee for the Restoration of Viipuri library;
1990-99 – Lecturer in Helsinki University of Technology, Faculty of Architecture;
1963-98 – Conservation Architect at National Board of Antiquities;
1963-71 – Private practice with Erkki Kairamo;
1971-73 – the Finnish UNESCO Committee
Lectures in Finland and abroad, articles in Finnish and international publications.
