O Docomomo Portugal tem o prazer de partilhar que a próxima conferência do ciclo IST-CiTUA ARCH TALKS 2026 organizado pelo CiTUA em conjunto com o Docomomo Portugal terá lugar no dia 18 de maio pelas 12H30 no auditório VA1 (DECivil) no Instituto Superior Técnico.
Intitulada “The buildings of International organisations in Geneva: discovering na exceptional heritage” a conferência será proferida pela professora Giulia Marino da UCLouvain, Bruxelas / EPFL, Lausanne, e vice-presidente do Docomomo Switzerland. A conferência será em inglês.

Giulia Marino é mestre em Arquitetura, na área de História e Teorias do Restauro de Monumentos, pela Universidade de Florença (MA, 2003), e doutorada em Arquitetura pela École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (PhD, 2014; EPFL Doctorate Award 2016). Concluiu ainda uma pós-graduação em Conservação do Património Construído Moderno e Contemporâneo pela Universidade de Geneva (DEA, 2006).
É professora na Université Catholique de Louvain, LOCI Faculty (UCLouvain, Bruxelas, Bélgica), e foi investigadora-fundadora do Laboratory of Techniques and Preservation of Modern Architecture da EPFL (Suíça). Paralelamente, exerce atividade como arquiteta consultora na área da conservação do património.
Os seus interesses científicos centram-se na história das estratégias de conservação do património moderno e contemporâneo, bem como na história das técnicas de construção e das infraestruturas técnicas do edifício no século XX. Estas duas linhas estruturantes articulam-se com estudos dedicados ao património monumental do período entre guerras (como o apartamento-atelier de Le Corbusier na 24NC, encomendado pela Foundation Le Corbusier em 2014, com bolsa da Getty Foundation) e com a investigação sobre o vasto corpus da produção arquitetónica entre 1945 e 1975 (Stratégies pour la cité du Lignon, 2009–2012; Europa Nostra Award 2013; SIA-Umsicht Award 2013).
Apresentou comunicações em numerosas conferências internacionais e publicou artigos e ensaios (Werk, Arquitectura Viva, AMC, entre outras), bem como uma monografia sobre o edifício CAF em Paris (Picard, 2009, 270 p.) e um livro sobre o restauro do conjunto habitacional Cité du Lignon, cuja conceção científica e coordenação assegurou (Infolio, 2012, 160 p.). Coeditou ainda os volumes Building Environment and Interiors Comfort in 20th-Century Architecture: Understanding Issues and Developing Conservation Strategies (PPUR, 2016) e Les multiples vies de l’appartement-atelier. Le Corbusier (PPUR, 2017). Após a monografia dedicada à Buvette d’Evian, de Jean Prouvé (Infolio, 2018), e o volume Avanchet-Parc, «cité de conception nouvelle et originale» (Infolio, 2020), encontra-se atualmente a preparar a publicação da sua tese de doutoramento nas éditions Métispresses, bem como das atas do International Study Day «Restoring Jean Prouvé» (PPUR, 2021).
É vice-presidente do Docomomo Switzerland desde 2015 e membro da direção do Docomomo Belgium desde 2020. É ainda membro da ICOMOS Schweiz, da Swiss Heritage Society, da Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects-SIA, da Associazione italiana per la storia dell’ingegneria, da Association francophone d’histoire de la construction e da Construction History Society.

Docomomo Portugal is happy to announce that the next talk of the IST-CiTUA ARCH TALKS 2026 organized by CiTUA together with Docomomo Portugal is taking place on  18 May 2026 at 12H30 at auditorium VA1 (DECivil) at Instituto Superior Técnico.
Titled “The buildings of International organisations in Geneva: discovering na exceptional heritage” this lecture will be held by professor Giulia Marino from UCLouvain, Brussels / EPFL, Lausanne and vice-president of Docomomo Switzerland. The conference will be in English.

Giulia Marino has a Master’s degree in architecture in History and theories of restoration of monuments from the University of Florence (MA, 2003) and a PhD in architecture from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (PhD, 2014; EPFL Doctorate Award 2016). She obtained also a Postgraduate Master in Preservation of modern and contemporary built heritage from the University of Geneva (DEA, 2006).
Professor at the Université Catholique de Louvain, LOCI Faculty (UCLouvain, Bruxelles, Belgium) and researcher at the Laboratory of Techniques and Preservation of Modern Architecture at the EPFL (Switzerland), Giulia Marino is also consultant architect in heritage preservation.Her scientific interests are centred on history of strategies for the conservation of the modern and contemporary heritage, and on the history of construction techniques and twentieth-century building services. She has developed these two main strands of research in her work, as well as the monumental heritage of the interwar period (e.g. Le Corbusier’s studio-apartment at 24NC, commissioned by the Foundation Le Corbusier, 2014, with a grant from the Getty Foundation) and in the extensive corpus of architectural production 1945-75 (e.g. Stratégies pour la cité du Lignon, 2009-2012; Europa Nostra Award 2013, SIA-Umsicht Award 2013).She has given lectures in Europe (Paris, Lisbon, Brussels, Milan, Luxembourg, etc.) and internationally (Chandigarh, Mexico City, Tokyo, Montreal, etc.). She has also presented at numerous international conferences and published papers and articles (Werk, Arquitectura Viva, AMC, etc.) as well as a monograph on the CAF building in Paris (Picard, 2009, 270 p.), and a book on the restoration of the Cité du Lignon housing complex, as well as being responsible for its scientific conception and coordination (Infolio, 2012, 160 p.). She recently coedited the volume Building Environment and Interiors Comfort in 20th-Century Architecture: Understanding Issues and Developing Conservation Strategies (PPUR, 2016) and Les multiples vies de l’appartement-atelier. Le Corbusier (PPUR, 2017). After the monograph on the Buvette d’Evian by Jean Prouvé (Infolio, 2018) and the volume Avanchet-Parc, «cité de conception nouvelle et originale (Infolio, 2020), she is working on the publication of her PhD at the éditions Métispresses and the proceedings of International Study Day «Restoring Jean Prouvé» (PPUR, 2021).
She is Vice President of Docomomo Switzerland since 2015 and member of the board of Docomomo Belgium since 2020.
