Started in 2016, in an exceptional meeting in Paris that brought together great French and international voices to dialogue around the challenges of our time, La Nuit des Idées [the Night of Ideas] quickly made its mark on the French and international agenda: since then every year at the end of January, this event aims to celebrate together, on the five continents, in all places of culture and knowledge, the free circulation of ideas and knowledge, proposing conferences, meetings, forums and round tables, around a common theme, which each place will lead in its own way.

In Coimbra, and within the scope of Europe Semester, in partnership with the City Council, this event will take place on 30th January 2021, online per Zoom and with the transmission on Facebook of the candidacy of Coimbra as the European Capital of Culture.

This year’s theme Proches / Proxima will host in debate issues as fundamental as the new sociability and solidarity, otherness and fraternities, the digital in social life, at work and in accessing the world, Europe as a common home …

All interventions will have simultaneous translation.
