Docomomo International would like to share the IV International Conference on the History of Art and Architecture of Ecuador [IV Jornadas de Historia del Arte y la Arquitectura (HISTAA)], with the theme “Leisure and business: the post-war hotel in the Americas 1945-1990”, organized by the Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo (FAUC) de la Universidad de Cuenca (Ecuador), to be held in a virtual format from 24th to 26th November 2021.
This event is realized together with the Facultad de Arquitectura, Diseño y Artes (FADA) de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE) and la Bienal de Arquitectura de Quito (BAQ), of the Colegio de Arquitectos del Ecuador – Pichincha (CAE-P).
For the first time, the conference will be complemented by a traveling exhibition that will tour some cities in the country, as well as by academic design and research workshops. Both events will have as theme the modern hotel industry in Ecuador.
The Conference on the History of Art and Architecture (HISTAA), which began in 2015, is a biennial event organized by the University of Cuenca, Ecuador. They constitute a moment of meeting and debate on Aspects of Theory and History of Art and Architecture of the Americas. Its objectives are to spread the
research advances and new proposals in the aforementioned fields of knowledge and those who, coming from other areas, contribute to the critical construction of regional memory and its theoretical interpretation. It is aimed to highlight the confluences between art, architecture, urbanism, landscape, as well as establishing inter-generational bridges between researchers, so that research networks are inclusive and are enriched by the heterogeneity of their views.
