Docomomo International is pleased to announce that Fundação Marques da Silva, with the support of Manuel Marques de Aguiar family, opened last Saturday, April 24, the exhibition “O desenho da vida na obra de Manuel Marques de Aguiar” [“The design of life in the work of Manuel Marques de Aguiar”]. Curated by the architect David Leite Viana, it will be open to the public until September 30, 2021, at Casa-Atelier José Marques da Silva. This is the first exhibition held after the donation of Manuel Marques de Aguiar collection to Fundação Marques da Silva.
Projects, drawings and memories of an intense research process, sometimes intuitive, other times systematic, oriented to the definition of values and priorities for the transformation of space, fill an exhibition path centered on Drawing. It reveals the unmistakable trait of Manuel Marques de Aguiar (1927-2015), an architect and urban planner who, among many other works and geographies, designed the French School of Porto, defined strategies for the ordering of the northern region, planned Espinho’s urban image and thought reconstruction of Angra do Heroísmo, after the 1980 earthquake.
The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday from 2.oo pm to 6.oo pm (GMT+1). On Saturdays, as long as they stay the current restrictions, from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm (GMT+1).
