Docomomo International is pleased to announce that CIUL (Center for Urban Information of Lisbon) is launched its 2021/2022 edition of the Ciclo de Conferências Encontro de Urbanismo [Urbanism Meeting Conference Cycle].

Promoted annually, since 2013, the cycle focuses on the reflection on Lisbon, from the urbanism perspective, addressing a different theme every year. Over six sessions, one per month, a panel of specialists is invited to present experiences and perspectives on the themes launched, opening space for debate and the exchange of ideas.

This year’s edition invites us to discover the Heritage of Lisbon.

How is heritage defined and why is it considered? Who knows it? Who takes care of it? Who discloses it? What mechanisms exist for a better safeguard of the legacy that Lisbon inherited from past generations? How to intervene in the building, and what uses can be made compatible with the existing heritage? What heritage is being built today for the future?

The first session, with the theme “O património cultural e a construção da identidade” [Cultural heritage and the construction of identity], will take place on Thursday, 21st October, at 18:00h (GMT+1) online.
