Online via zoom, 18-19 and 25-26 October 2025
Docomomo Portugal is pleased to share the 2025 CICA International Conferences on Architectural Criticism. Entitled “Territoriality and Temporality in Architecture” it will take place in hybrid format, via Zoom on 18-19 and 25-26 October.
Following the previous CICA Conferences (2021-2024), the 2025 conference seeks a critique to built projects’ temporal and/or territorial qualities, answering questions as: How do buildings establish and engage with territories? How do temporalities manifest themselves in buildings? How do architects deal with multiple temporalities and territorialities? How do buildings live and die?
By exceeding the modernist categories of space and time to contemporary notions of territorialities and temporalities, we move from nouns to adjectives, from immutable and fixed ideas of reality to multiple, socially produced, and unstable qualities. Special attention will be given to how architecture engages with the past, present, and future in discussing the ecological and social potentials they convey.
