Docomomo International would like to share with you some of the latest design and architecture books from the publisher Lund Humphries that are now available online.

Mid-Rise Urban Living by Chris Johnson (July 2021, available in the US from November 2021)
Shows how effective low-rise housing is in creating contemporary sustainable urban communities, with case studies of work by leading architects including WOHA, MVRDV, dRMM and Zaha Hadid. The author is an architect and planner who was responsible for architecture and planning in New South Wales for 15 years and led the Australian Urban Taskforce.

Walter Segal: Self-Built Architect, by Alice Grahame and John McKean, with an Introduction by Kevin McCloud. (July 2021, available in the US from October 2021)
Including illustrations from Segal’s personal archive and new photography from Taran Wilkhu, this study of Walter Segal (1907 – 1985) reveals his unique approach to architectural practice and his enduring impact on architecture and attitudes to housing across the world.

Scotland’s Rural Home: Nine Stories about Contemporary Architecture by John Brennan (publishing July 2021, December 2021 for US).
John Brennan is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Design at the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, the University of Edinburgh. He is also a practising architect whose built works include collaborations with James Turrell and a series of awards including the Saltire prize for housing, and most recently the Scottish Homes award for best house in 2011. His book illustrates how rural households and communities define themselves and the role architecture plays in this.

Designing a World for Everyone: 30 Years of Inclusive Design by Jeremy Myerson (publishing July 2021, December 2021 for US)
Marks the 30th anniversary of the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design at the Royal College of Art. The author cofounded the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design and was its Director for 16 years. He is also an Honorary Professorial Fellow in the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing at the University of Oxford, and Director of WORKTECH Academy, a global knowledge platform on the future of work.
