Professor Ana Tostões, the Chair of Docomomo International, has taken part of the international symposium “Paradores, Tourism and Culture. Towards the centenary” [Paradores, turismo y cultura. Rumbo al centenario], in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, as speaker.
The research group Iacobus of the University of Santiago de Compostela organized, together with Paradores de Turismo de España S.M.E, S.A., the first international symposium focused on the mark Paradores network has left in tourism in Spain, and also the reflection on the valorization of its cultural potencial.
The symposium has three main goals:
– To deepen the knowlegde of the history of Paradores as one of the pillars of the development of tourism in Spain;
– To spread and value the legacy of Paradores among professionals from the tourism and culture sector;
– To analyze the touristic and cultural impact, from an international perspective, of Paradores´ activity since the last 90 years in Spain.
