The exhibition Octávio Lixa Filgueiras: Habitat da modernidade [Habitat of Modernity], commissioned by the professors Gonçalo Canto Moniz and Nelson Mota, will take place between 18th April and 18th June 2017, at the Casa-Atelier José Marques da Silva (FIMS – Fundação Instituto Arquitecto José Marques da Silva). This initiative is part of the program developed to symbolize the donation of the Octávio Lixa Filgueiras archive to FIMS, and has the support of: FAUP (Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto); Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Coimbra; EAUM (School of Architecture of the University of Minho); CEAA-ESAP and the Northern Regional Section of the Portuguese Order of Architects.
In the framework of this exhibition, a series of two talk sessions will be held at Casa-Atelier José Marques da Silva, which aim to be a critical reflection contribution on two central themes, both in the work of Octávio Lixa Filgueiras and in the Portuguese architecture: the architect’s social function and the habitat of modernity.
The first talk promoted under this exhibition – Conversa #1 | Da Função Social do Arquiteto [The Architect’s Social Function], will take place on May 26, 2017 (Friday) and to discuss the subject with the participation of Ana Tostões (Chair of Docomomo International), Eduardo Fernandes, Pedro Bandeira and Raquel Paulino.
The second talk – Conversa #2 | O Habitat da Modernidade [The Habitat of Modernity], will take place on June 26, 2017 (Monday) and will count with the participation of Bruno Gil, Jorge Figueira, Edite Rosa, Maria Helena Maia and Pedro Baía.
The moderation of both talks will be assured by the commissioners of this project, professors Gonçalo Canto Moniz and Nelson Mota.
